It is that time of the year again - February 14. And don't forget the Chinese version (Chap Goh Meh) on February 10. With the situation in the world right now - the global economic crisis and a lot of uncertainties surrounding all of us, it is even more important to express our love for each other and support one another during these times. Writing down what you feel and how much you appreciate the other person in a letter expresses genuine deep feelings. It shows a lot of thought and effort has been put into writing the love letter. Ever notice in a lot of love and drama movies, the most touching time is when the girl opens up a piece of paper and read it. A lot of air time is spent focusing on the 'slow' process of opening the letter and reading the letter. Obviously, the writers have spent a lot of time thinking about how to convey the feelings of the characters on the big screen. Writing a love letter or a love note is all about content and presentation. Content, the things that you want to say, is the most important. You can write the most touching material on a chewing gum paper and it will still bring out the desired feelings. So you have to spend time thinking about what you want to express in your letter. In uncertain times like this, one idea is to provide assurance to the other person of your love and support. So if and when any untoward incident does befall your loved ones, he or she can count on your support. Also, in times like this, spending lavishly is probably not the best way to express your love for one another and it sometimes can backfire especially when money is tight. So use easy-to-obtain materials that will not burn a hole in your pocket. You will be surprised at what is available in the marketplace for a fraction of the cost. Presentation is another area you need to give some effort to. This area can be the most innovative and creative. Turn on your creative juices and start thinking how you can make your day together interesting. Presentation is not just about what your write your content on but also how the love letter is presented to the other person. You can make your partner find the love letter by hiding it and then create a treasure hunt out of it - in the home or surrounding area. Or you can write a series of love letters leading up to that special day. This will create an exciting and highly anticipated atmosphere. The love letter will not just enhance the special day but will express intangible thoughts and feelings. In fact, with the love letter, the special day is enhanced. The love letter has an inherent quality namely 'effort' and that 'effort' will transcend to the special day. The recipient will feel the amount of effort you have put into preparing for Valentine's Day. Writing a love letter shares wonderful moments in life with close ones, it often bring lots of joy to both parties especially so for this Valentine's Day.
